Sanyo Pocket Camcorder With Digital Zoom




We’ve waited a long time to see a high-definition pocket friendly camcorder having an optical zoom lens, but now the wait is over and finally Sanyo has delivered what we’ve been asking for a long period of time. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-PD2 is the latest high-def pocket camcorder from Sanyo and the camcorder comes with an optical zoom. The pocket-friendly VPC-PD2 comes with an optical zoom lens of 3X, which ranges from a 38mm wide angle to a 114mm telephoto, in addition to this the camcorder also has stereo microphone on the edges of the camera.

It’s worth noticing that the Sanyo VPC-PD2 is the first pocket camcorder from Sanyo, although they have been manufacturing ultracompact high-definition camcorder for quite a long period of time now.

Specification and Features

The Sanyo Xacti VPC-PD2 is capable of recording 1080p MPEG-4 video in high-definition at the rate of 30 frames/second at its top-resolution setting (the camcorder also has the capability of capturing 720p video at either 60 frames per second or 30 frames per second, and normal-definition 640 x 480 video). In its still-capturing mode, the camera captures 10 megapixel photos and it also has an en suite flash which could easily be used for capturing still photos only. The burst-shooting mode, which could be accessed through the in-camera menus of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-PD2′s burst-shooting mode is capable of capturing 2 megapixel images constantly as you press its shutter button.

The offloading of the video clips and charging the battery is done by using a USB connector that slides out of the camcorder, and the images and video clips are stored in a user supplied SDHC, SDXC and SD card. The Sanyo VPC-PD2 is supplied with an extension cable for its built-in USB connector to deal with the awkward positioning of the USB ports on computers.

The Sanyo VPC-PD2 comes with an HDMI-out port, and the camcorder is compatible with the Eye-Fi cards, so as to let you upload files straight from the camera easily on a Wi-Fi connection.

The Sanyo VPC-PD2 is expected to enter the market on September 1, and is expected to be priced $170.
