Sigma DP1 – An Eagerly Anticipated Camera

thumbnail
The Sigma DP1 undoubtedly is one of the most anticipated compact cameras of modern times, at least it holds true for the compact camera segment. The prototype of the DP1 was firstly displayed at the Photokina 2006, but after the display it took quite a long period to hit the market and the camera entered the market back in this March. The camera was so eagerly awaited that the reason for the delay was explained in an official statement by the company. Sigma stated in an official statement that the delay in the camera launch took place because of the urge to change the specifications of the camera’a imaging pipeline. Now many of you might be asking “what is all the fuss about the Sigma DP1?” So, let us tell you that it’s the Sensor of the camera. The DP1 makes use of a Foveon X3 sensor, which is the same sensor that has been used in Sigma's SD14 DSLR and it makes the Sigma DP1 the first compact camera ever to have an SLR-sized sensor (the sensor used here  [...]

DMC FX35 – New Digital Compact Camera From Panasonic

thumbnail
The Panasonic Lumix DMC FX35 is the latest entrant in the world of compact digital camera world. Now, seeing at the trend of the compact digital camera world of having standard zoom lenses that generally starts in the low- to mid-30mm focal range at the wide-angle end of the spectrum, having a 35mm-equivalent length surely isn’t all that wide or bigger. Most of the times you’ll come across a 27 or 28mm length, but those lengths have tended to be exclusion rather than being the tradition. Seeing at the overall range of the camera offered to Panasonic, its lineup has rather high numbers of 28mm to lower-30s lenses, but the latest offering from the company the DMC FX35 seems to breaks new ground in the compact wide-angle sweepstakes. The DMC FX35 comes with a 4x optical zoom, which starts out at 25mm. Now many of you might be asking, is wider better? Well, at least Panasonic thinks so, and is assured that their consumers will also embrace the concept.  [...]

Digital electronics major ViewSonic has introduced couple of 3D products which wont need any 3D Spectacles. In addition to these 3D products, ViewSonic also has gout some of the immensely handy digital imaging apparatuses. The first offering from ViewSonic is the all new 3DV5 Pocket 3D HD camcorder that can capture standard 2D videos and 3D as well. The best thing, and according to us the only thing that will appeal a lot of potential customers in market is the fact that this 3D Pocket camcorder from ViewSonic doesn’t require special glasses for watching the 3D content. The camcorder has a 2.4 inch 3D LCD panel and is priced at $179.99. The second 3D offering from ViewSonic is their digital photo frame the 3DPF8 3D multimedia; just like the camcorder this digital photo frame also doesn’t require any eyewear requirements. Sony Alpha 55 – A Surprise Entry From Sony

thumbnail
Digital SLR market undeniably is one of the strongest sectors of Sony Electronics, and one surely can neglect the immense presence of Sony in this segment of digital electronics. The impact of Sony in digital SLR market becomes even important because of the fact that Sony actually doesn’t have a wide range of DSLR cameras in their portfolio, but not much growth has been seen for Sony in this segment in recent times, and it easily could be attributed to the lack of evolution in its succeeding models. So, Sony also has seen its own share of ups and downs in the dSLR segment and now has entered the market with a whole new offering as Sony Alpha 55 aka Sony SLT-A55 camera. The introduction of Sonly Alpha 55 was a surprise entry from Sony and not much was expected of this camera. So the disappointment to see the use of remarkably outdated technology was in the camera was comparatively less. What Sony is calling the Translucent Mirror Technology, actually is the Canon  [...]

thumbnail
The HD segment of camcorders has seen significant drop in prices, and the crashing down of camcorder prices could be estimated from the fact you now can get a pocket video camera offering complete 1080p high-definition recording for as less as $190. But although these cameras are small and user friendly, but they generally don’t compares to the conventional camcorders in terms of picture quality and features. Priced at $400, the Canon Legria HF R106 probably is the cheapest non-pocket HD camcorders currently available in market. We can’t crown it the “best of budget” category, because of the number of really potent HD camcorders available in market. The one thing that you should keep in mind if you are going for the Legria HF R106 is that “don’t expect” too much, the reason behind this being the significant amount of cutbacks being made everywhere, canon also has stripped Legria HF R106 back to the bare basics. Though, the good news here is that
