thumbnail
You have seen the people only interested in flip type camcorder for watching, recording and sharing videos on social networking website. You might have also interacted with the people who need a pocket camera for capturing and posting pictures to their favorite photo sharing or social networking Web site. Nikon CoolPix 220 is completely a Facebook camera that is designed for people needing some better still capturing device than mobile phone. The CoolPix S220 has nice ultra-compact design and good features, but the photo quality is not good. Even more, its performance is also not impressive one. The CoolPix S220 costs around $149.99. If you only view and print small size photographs less than 4×6 inches, then you can buy the new digital camera – Nikon CoolPix S220. Nikon CoolPix S220 has straightforward controls. The zoom control, shutter release and power button sits on the top. The directional pad and other menu navigation and shooting option  [...]

Sony Handycam DCR-SR85 – For Decent Videos

thumbnail
The DCR-SR85 is a Sony’s Hybrid standard-definition camcorder, which records the videos at hard-disk drive and on Memory Stick Pro Duo cards. It has 60GB hard drive that provides 14 hours to 41 hours of video recording time. It depends on the quality settings. The overall video quality is better than its sibling, the DCR-SR45. Sony Handycam DCR-SR85 is not the best deal, so we recommend you to go for any other HD camcorder like Canon HG10, which costs only a couple of bucks more but you get good quality. Sony Handycam DCR-SR85 has a dial that works for still capture, video recording and power on/off. A record button is located in the center that allows recording fast. Activity and power lights sit above the record button. You will also find Quick On button to take the camcorder in/out of standby mode. The camera shutter and rocker switch for lens are located on the top of the SR85. Rocker switch and zoom rocker are easy to operate and allows for  [...]

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W220 – average photo quality

thumbnail
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W220 does not offer a lot of features but that is not unexpected in such a low price. However, its line-mate the DSC-W290 is offering HD movie quality capture, large LCD display and wide lens with a price over $200. The DSC-W220 is a compact well-rounded camera with good performance and nice photo quality. It costs $179. However, you can spend $70 more to get better features in the W290. The Mode dial is located inside the body and has enough space on its right side for easy usage. The zoom rocker sits above the dial and you will find the directional pad and playback button below the dial. You can use this pad for navigating menu options and controlling the settings for timer, display, macro and flash. The Menu and Home buttons are located beneath the directional pad, like previous Sony models. Menu button will display the shooting controls that are context-sensitive. Comparatively, the Home button will show other options to  [...]

Canon Vixia HG20 review – Excellent video quality

thumbnail
Canon Vixia HG20 is easy to operate, excellent and good looking camcorder. The Vixia HG20 looks and has same features like the Canon Vixia HF11. However, the HG20 has 60GB hard drive that is more than 32GB memory of the HF11. The Vixia HG20 also has SD card slot for external storage and eye-level viewfinder unlike its predecessor. Its performance is good, but not as good as Sony Handycam HDR-SR11. If you need a camcorder with large flash memory and good performance, then you can go for new Canon Vixia HG20. Canon Vixia HG20 has a 2.7-inch LCD display. A Function button and five-way joystick sits on the bezel of LCD display. The other controls are located beneath the display. We found it difficult to adjust the focus with joystick. The input/output jacks and controls are positioned in an easy-to-use way. The dial to switch from still/video playback to still/video record sits on the back. Canon Vixia HG20 has large and easy-to-operate controls. The  [...]

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330 – 14 MP resolution but below par quality

thumbnail
When we looked closely at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330, we found that the bells and whistles have been cut down to bring down the price to less than $170. Sony’s other offering, W350 priced at $199 and comes with optical image stabilizer. The W330 instead comes with VGA quality movie mode which doesn’t let you use optical zoom. Other turn offs include lower quality noise-reduction, less internal memory, no unsharp masking option in playback, no manual white balance, no autofocus illuminator light, and child and adult priority are detached from the options of face detection. There is no Sweep Panorama mode or any other panorama mode. This product doesn’t have the Bionz engine which might be responsible for the lack of aforementioned features. We would recommend you to go for the W350 which offers a lot more in features and costs only $30 more. The only advantage that the W330 has over the W350 is the bigger screen. However, if you are ok with the lack of options and are just a light  [...]

Panasonic SDR-SW20 – waterproof, shockproof camcorder

thumbnail
Panasonic SDR-SW20 has compact shape. It has sturdy and waterproof body. The SDR-SW20 is a nice and interesting device for those who need weatherproof camcorder for online video sharing. Panasonic SDR-SW20 remains waterproof up to 5-feet underwater for 30 minutes at a stretch. It adheres to the IEC (International Electro-technical Commission) 60529 IPX8 standard. The camcorder resists damage. It is shockproof up to four feet height. We tested this using MIL-STD-810F method 516.5 for shock testing. In addition, the SDR-SW20 records video of MPEG2 format at 10Mbps to SDHC/SD cards. Panasonic said water-resistant packing will loosen up over time and recommends that the user should replace the packing at least once in every 18 months. The horizontal design of Panasonic SDR-SW20 allows 10x optical zoom unlike Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 which has a pistol-grip design. As the zoom is not smooth, so video jerks up and down as lens extends and retracts. There  [...]

JVC Everio GZ-MS100 review – affordable price, average quality

thumbnail
JVC Everio GZ-MS100 is compact size and SD card based camcorder. It features one-touch button to upload the videos to internet. The YouTube branding on the back of LCD display and on the box attracts YouTube-savvy. JVC has introduced its new Laser Touch Interface to the Everio GZ-MS100, which is a plus point. JVC had manufactured this model to fit CMOS sensor of 680,000 pixels resolution and 35x optical zoom lens in a compact body. You will not find high-resolution sensor and better optical zoom on other models from its competitors. However, this great feature comes with an expensive price tag. In addition to this, JVC Everio GZ-MS100 does not provide good quality and performance. Therefore, you can check what other competitors are providing in their camcorders before making a final decision about new JVC model. We also recommend you to check Canon FS100 also as it has better features. JVC Everio GZ-MS100 has 2.7-inch rotating LCD display. You can flip open the display to access Laser  [...]
